What it takes to shoot a Belfountain winter engagement. It takes planning and a realization that you are going to be wet and cold and your hair is not going to hold up for long. If you are lucky enough to get a snowy day, then it will be magical, but that also comes with it’s own set of challenges. The weather can be huge factor in driving conditions and getting to this location and it can also be a factor with the events leading up to this type of session. Your hair and makeup artist may not be able to make it to you or the location where hair and makeup is taking place. The roads may be worse than you expected in this location and just not safe to get there. But, if all the plans come together and you actually make it to The Forks of the Credit then you’ll get photos like these.
We started at this barn ruin with a long laneway, tall grasses, wooden fence and the stone building and silo still in tact. Graffiti has been written all over the stone but it’s done tastefully and I incorporate the cute red heart in your images. Once we were done with this location, we moved on to the Belfountain Conservation Park just up the road behind the ice cream shop. There is a fee to get in which is minimal and allows you to park inside the park. Just a short walk away and with plenty of photogenic areas on the way, we head towards the suspension bridge and large lake with a fountain. This location is stunning at any time of year, but this is my first time in the winter and I wasn’t sure what to expect. The suspension bridge is closed of course for safety reasons, but you can still get great images with it in the background. The trails are still easily accessible although not maintained in winter. The water fountain is not functioning but still a great backdrop. I also love the black fencing, the stone walls, and the forests in this location.
