Hamilton Art Gallery journalistic wedding photography on a gorgeous fall day.
Second Photographer: Melissa Shearer Photography
We started our day with the ceremony in this beautiful room with lots of window and natural light. The backlight was minimized with sheer backdrop and green ivy which was ideal for photography. The bride and groom chose this venue because of the proximity to downtown Hamilton and their law offices. They both work and live in the area and really wanted to be married in a place that meant something to them and was convenient for their friends and family. The Hamilton Art Gallery was a gracious host and although photography is not allowed in the gallery, I was able to take some journalistic style, unobtrusive images of my bride and groom in the art gallery without disturbing anyone or anything.
After the ceremony, we stepped outside to the patio for family photos before taking my bride and groom away for their portraits. We walked around the Art Gallery of Hamilton and then the streets of Hamilton and the surrounding buildings just chasing light. This is my favourite way to photograph a wedding as it is so memorable for my couple and the variety of images is endless.
After walking around the area, we came back to the Art Gallery of Hamilton where the couple took a few minutes alone in the gallery before joining their guests for cocktail hour upstairs. Once everyone had arrived for the reception, they were escorted back to the ceremony space where it had been transformed for the reception. Beautiful long tables decorated with greens and ivy and delicate napkins and candles. The setting was perfectly simple and elegant. The food was fabulous, and the service was incredible.
