We met in history class in grade 12, and bonded over root beer and spiced rum!
What do you remember most about your first date?
He asked me out for lunch to the restaurant across the road from our school. His grandma was there watching us coincidentally, he only brought $10, so he had to ask me to pay for the rest, and my face was beat red the entire date!!
When did you know he was the one?
We lived long distance while going to college and university. The first year, I was having a really hard time with him not being around, crying on the phone constantly missing him. One day after I got home from work, he showed up at my front door with a 12 pack of kraft dinner, and I knew he was my forever ♥️
How did you feel the moment he proposed?
Were you surprised by his planning?I was not expecting it at all! I was so grumpy that day because we were on vacation in New York and nothing was going to plan, and I was starving. There were so many people around because it was the 4th of July, and he completely surprised me! It was not the "movie moment" most people think their proposal would be. But it was a perfect proposal to represent our relationship!
Why did you choose this venue?
I love the outdoors ceremony space! It is so cute and peaceful in front of the water, the giant willow trees are just gorgeous, and it just feels so comfortable there.
If you could use 3 word to describe the theme of your day what would they be?
Rustic, fun and loving
Memorable moment from your waking up the morning of and getting ready for your day?
My younger flower girl had a complete meltdown when her mom tried to leave her with the girls for pictures! I think I got one of me with her screaming her head off! We eventually distracted her with a giant bag of goldfish and she walked down the aisle with the goldfish in her hand! She was so perfect at that point though!
Tell me your feelings about who and why you chose to be with you while you put your dress on?
All my girls standing with me are so important in my life. My maid of honour is my only sister now so of course she deserves to be right beside me. Two of my bridesmaids, I spent most of my childhood with, so they had to be present as well. My last bridesmaid is always there for me, even if it's a big venting session about work. My mom also helped with the dress, and I loved that because she has helped me through a lot in my life.
What did you feel and remember from your ceremony?
I remember that my lip kept quivering walking down the aisle because I was trying not to burst into tears! I also remember the tears (and sweat!) rolling down my husband's face!
Who and why walked you down the aisle?
My dad walked me down the aisle because I believe in the tradition of my father giving me away. It is a nice gesture for him to give me to my husband.
Comments / Tips about your venue for future couples?
I am extremely type A, so I had charts and forms about every conversation I had with the venue. It made me feel in charge and I knew exactly what was happening at all times. It also helped for me to share with her so we were constantly on the same page!
What did you talk about during your first dance together?
This is one of the first times you will have some "alone" time during your big day. So we mostly recapped about the ceremony and pictures, and talked about special moments from the day. We also sang to each other because we both loved the song we chose.
What did you do together the next day that was memorable?
The next day was also busy. We were visiting family all weekend, so we didn't have a lot of time to ourselves. My most memorable times were in the car travelling from houses and nonstop talking about our big day.
If you could tell engaged couples 3 things not to stress about on the wedding day what would it be?
1. Vendors: I was worried that my vendors didn't know my exact vision and timing. These people are professionals! Everything goes so smoothly and I'm so glad I chose all of them!
2. Pictures: the photographer knows the schedule, and knows we need to stay on time, trust them!
3. Weather: of course it is cliché, but you can't change the weather. Always bring a clear umbrella if there is a chance of rain and you want to be outside
