Top 10 Questions you Need to Ask

How Do You Photograph The Day?

Frances captures weddings in a very journalistic style and while she is very hands-off and unobtrusive in her coverage of the day she does believe that there is a time and place for gorgeous, casually posed images of the bride and groom together. Although, she would like to have some time alone with the bride and groom without the bridal party or family to create some images, other times she will capture the events of the day as they happen without stopping you to pose for pictures. Frances also believes strongly in capturing all of the details of the wedding that you spent years trying to put together to create this amazing wedding day...... your cake, your shoes, the flowers, the venue, the location and the rings. Her images of the guests at the wedding are almost 100% journalistic as she captures them laughing, smiling, dancing, drinking, and having a great time.

Do we need to provide you with a "shot list" or will you do posed family portraits as well?

A few months before your wedding Frances will send you a questionnaire covering the wedding day timeline. You can provide a "shot list" of family members, but you know them best so we found a system that works really really well. After your ceremony immediate family members will be directed to the family photo location. As a new couple you will be present in every image, therefore all you need to do is ask people to join and I will photograph each group. Do you have college or work friends you want to be photographed with then let us know and we will try and make sure you get those images either during posed family photos or throughout cocktail hour. Please remember, you have trusted Frances to capture your day as it unfolds naturally with a journalistic style and additional time spent on numerous family groupings and gathering guests for photos will take away from documenting the family dynamic as it happens.

Formal photos are taken and the in between moments are taken because we are the pros that anticipate family dynamics.

Do you work with a second shooter?

The wedding day from preparations to the end of the evening is photographed by Frances as your primary photographer. Frances works with an assistant at every wedding who helps with gear, lighting, and managing groups for family formals but the assistant also photographs during the ceremony, guest captures, and cocktail hour. Frances can certainly arrange a second shooter who photographs in the same style to cover groom preps for you and a second photographer is recommended for weddings with over 250 ppl. We believe guest captures are important as these are the people there with you enjoying your day.

Will all the images be completely edited and ready for printing?

Yes, every image has been post processed and edited one at a time and the editing is done by Frances. Editing images is a huge part of why you hire a photographer. We are experienced in taking the photos, but if your photographer is not experienced in editing you may not get all the images you deserve. Frances will also create a select few fine art edits because she just can't help it when she sees something spectacular.

Are you available for Travel and do you charge travel fees?

Frances currently lives in Caledon & Collingwood and a base in Lake Louise. She will photograph locally from the Niagara, Toronto, London and Muskoka. Frances has been to the Canadian Rockies, The Caribbean, the United States and Europe to photograph events and is very comfortable travelling internationally to cover weddings. Travel fees do not apply for areas locally to Toronto, but overnight fees may apply for events lasting 10+ hours in locations over 2 hours away.

Destination Costs?

You are responsible for airfare, hotel, food and rental car if needed in addition to your chosen Wedding Collection........but UNIQUE locations will be granted custom quotes with incentives.

Is Frances the only photographer?

Frances has a team of photographers ready to photograph any event. Frances guarantees her eyes and talent at your wedding unless you choose an associate photographer.

Can we get the black and white images in color?

Black and white images are usually that way because of lighting issues or colour issues but you should still get the photos no?

Because of my experience in editing images that aren't colour balanced correctly and would not print correctly but still a great moment will be edited in black and white because you still deserve the images.

Journalistic images may also be in BW because there's more of an impact with BW.

Are you able to shoot in a different style?

The images on the website and blog galleries are recent images you will receive on your wedding day and reflect Frances' style. Beautiful, emotional images that reflect moments from your day. If what you're looking for is a more staged style of photography with evenly lit images then Frances might not be the photographer for you. She uses a great deal of shadow, light and contrast in her natural light images as well as her flash/lit images during the receptions. Please make sure that you look through all of her sample galleries provided when you inquire with her to make sure that the style you see in the galleries reflects the style that you want for your wedding day photography.

How long does it take to get our products and images?

Online galleries are posted within 6-8 weeks of the wedding date. A printed proof book is available upon request $.

You will receive a digital download PIN to download all your hi resolution images immediately.

If you wish to purchase a backup USB it will arrive 3 months after your wedding date.

All albums will begin the custom design once we receive your favourites list in your proofing gallery.

How many pictures will we get?

The number of photographs taken depends on the number of guests, hours of coverage, type of event. TRADITIONAL photographers following a shot list average a photograph a minute with a minimum of 500 images.

A JOURNALISTIC photographer, since we are capturing everything that is happening around us, will usually deliver 700-900 images.

If you are having a lively wedding you will have a lot more to photograph, but if you're wedding is intimate and relaxed you will less activity therefore less images.

Can You Edit In A Different Style?

A lot goes into editing every photograph and each one gets personal attention. However, if you would like all your images in BW just let us know when booking.
