We met over our mutual love of reading real books.
What do you remember most about your first date?
I was very nervous but he made me feel at ease. It was never hard to make conversation.
When did you know he was the one?
Pretty early on! From the beginning we had a great connection and it was super easy being together. It was never hard to find things to talk about, and he was always the one I wanted to share things with.
How did you feel the moment he proposed?
Were you surprised by his planning?I felt incredibly happy and overjoyed! On our anniversary he took me out for dinner to the same restaurant where we had our first date, and we had an amazing meal. When we got home and were exchanging presents, he got down on one knee and proposed with the engagement ring my dad had given my mom (the sweetest, most meaningful thing). I wasn’t expecting a proposal that day, so I was a bit surprised, but the ring was a total shock that brought me to tears.
Why did you choose this venue?
We chose this venue because it was beautiful, full of nature, but still conveniently located within the city.
If you could use 3 word to describe the theme of your day what would they be?
Fun. Relaxed. Joyous.
Memorable moment from your waking up the morning of and getting ready for your day?
I woke up early because I was very excited. I was with my sister, we ate breakfast with our family, and it was so happy to be with the ones I love getting ready for the day to come.
Tell me your feelings about who and why you chose to be with you while you put your dress on?
My mom helped me get into my dress, my bridesmaids were also there to lend their hands. It felt right to share this moment with my mom and closest friends, as they've always been there to support me through the good and the tough moments in my life.
What did you feel and remember from your ceremony?
I felt calm and happy being there with my husband. I remember when the officiant was mentioning those who couldn't be with us, two butterflies flew by us. It felt magical and perfect. The perfection was interrupted a little by a large black hornet trying to crawl into my husband's ear. He managed not to freak out too much though. This is something we've laughed about since.
Who and why walked you down the aisle?
My mom and my step-dad. I had always wanted my mom to be there, and also decided to share this special moment with my step-dad as he is an important part of our family, and has been incredibly supportive of us.
Comments / Tips about your venue for future couples?
The venue was spectacular but needs to be booked well in advance!
What did you talk about during your first dance together?
How happy we were and hope weird it was too have everyone just staring at us.
What did you do together the next day that was memorable?
We took the flowers from my bouquet and the centre piece to my dad's gravesite with my family as a way of including him in our marriage.
If you could tell engaged couples 3 things not to stress about on the wedding day what would it be?
1. Trust your vendors to be professionals, and they'll get the job done
2. Focus on each other and try to spend time together throughout the evening.
3. If something does go wrong remember only you and your partner truly know it went wrong, others won't notice. So let it go and enjoy your day!!
