Their Love Story

  • How did you meet? We met on Tinder soon after I moved to Chicago. I guess we both swiped right.
  • What do you remember most about your first date? Laughing a lot! I remember he had a great sense of humour.
  • When did you know he was the one? A month or two after we started dating, I went home to Toronto for 2 weeks and was surprised at how much I missed seeing him. That's when I realized how much I wanted to have him around.
  • How did you feel the moment he proposed? Were you surprised by his planning? In my head, I thought "finally"! We had been dating for four and a half years! I was surprised at how he did it but I knew the proposal was coming because we went ring shopping together.
  • Why did you choose this venue? I loved how unique the decor was. It was a place where I could take beautiful photos without needing a lot of embellishments. I also heard how amazing the food was so that was a big plus!
  • If you could use 3 word to describe the theme of your day what would they be? Fun. Intimate. Unique.
  • Memorable moment from your waking up the morning of and getting ready for your day? Waking up with my fiance and sharing our excitement over the day ahead.
  • Tell me your feelings about who and why you chose to be with you while you put your dress on? I chose my mom and one of my closest friends. I wanted to surround myself with people I knew would be calming.
  • What did you feel and remember from your ceremony? I remember feeling nervous standing in front of every and sharing personal feelings out loud. But I also remember looking at Jon and seeing how calm he was like this was the most normal thing in the world. I think my favourite part was seeing how emotional he got while reading his vows.
  • Who and why walked you down the aisle? I walked myself down the aisle. I didn't want anyone to "give me away". It was more important to me that my parents sit together and watch as I was making this choice to get married for myself and by myself.
  • Comments / Tips about your venue for future couples? Andrea Chavez is amazing! She was the venue coordinator and was extremely helpful as I was planning this whole thing from another country. I would also recommend getting a photographer who has experience shooting at this venue as it does pose some lighting challenges.
  • What did you talk about during your first dance together? We did not have a first dance.
  • What did you do together the next day that was memorable? We had breakfast and lunch with family and friends before they left the city.
  • If you could tell engaged couples 3 things not to stress about on the wedding day what would it be?

How the reception space looks (the florist/decorator is on it), the schedule (other people will be there to keep you on time) and what the groom is up to while you're getting ready (he'll be fine).
